The cruise route passes through pristine areas full of greenery and wild nature, making it an ideal trip for both nature lovers and those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

You will see beautiful landscapes and have the opportunity to admire the extraordinary engineering of the inclined planes, which allow ships to overcome a difference in water levels of approximately 100 meters.

Elbląg Canal - What you will see during the cruise

 

The Elbląg Canal is a true gem of hydraulic engineering, designed in the 19th century. It is the only operational canal in the world where ships are transported on wagons over grass, making it a unique destination on Poland's tourist map.

 

During the cruise, you will have the opportunity to see how ships are transported across five inclined planes that connect different water levels.

While traveling along the Elbląg Canal, you will be able to admire breathtaking views, including picturesque meadows, forests, and numerous lakes. The route passes through Natura 2000 areas, meaning you may encounter many protected species of birds and plants.

 

Along the way, you will also pass charming towns and villages that add to the allure of the journey. Every turn of the canal is a new adventure and an opportunity to discover more treasures of Polish nature and culture.

How to book a Grass Cruise trip

 

Ordering the trip is very simple. Just fill out the form below or send an email, and our staff will help you choose the most convenient date and time for departure.

The "grass ship" cruises from Elbląg to Buczyniec take place daily from April 27, 2024, to September 30, 2024, at 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 2:00 PM.

​

On the day of the trip, a taxi will pick you up and take you to Elbląg, where the Elbląg Canal cruise begins. The journey from the center of Gdańsk to Elbląg takes about 45 minutes. The cruise lasts approximately 4.5 hours and ends in Buczyniec, where the same taxi driver who brought you to Elbląg will be waiting for you. The driver will then take you back to Gdańsk.

The price of the trip does not include tickets for the cruise. You can purchase cruise tickets through the Żegluga Ostródzko-Elbląska website, at the ticket office, or I can assist you in buying them.
