Sounds like a plan? See what else lies hidden within the walls of Stągwia—and prepare for more than you bargained for.

The history and location of the Tower of Mysteries
Before you completely immerse yourself in the world of illusions and entertainment, let me take on the role of a guide for a moment and tell you the story of the extraordinary building that houses the Tower of Mysteries.
This is no ordinary tenement house, but the mighty Stągiewna Gate, or more precisely, its taller, majestic tower, known as Stągwia. Its history is inextricably intertwined with the fate of Gdańsk, forming a fascinating tale of power, destruction, and rebirth.
Stągiewna Tower as the seat of the Mystery Tower
Let's travel back in time to the years 1517-1519, when this brick structure was built. It was the last gate in Gdańsk, still bearing echoes of Gothic architecture, and its purpose was purely military: defense.
Imagine its massive walls, up to 4 meters thick on the eastern side and 28 meters high – all to protect the priceless goods stored in the granaries on Granary Island.
Its characteristic cylindrical shape meant that the people of Gdańsk, known for their sense of humor, quickly dubbed it and its smaller companion "Milk Jars" (German: Milchkannentor ), because they reminded them of old vessels used for carrying milk.
The tower's fate, like that of the entire city, was turbulent. Rebuilt in the 17th century, it was damaged during the siege of 1813. However, its greatest tragedy came in 1945, when, as a result of warfare, its interior burned to the ground and its roofs collapsed.
It seemed that this was the end. But just as Gdańsk rose from the ruins, the Stągiewna Gate was rebuilt.
For years it was looked after by the Cooperative of Polish Visual Artists "Arpo", giving it an artistic spirit.
A new, exciting chapter in its history began in July 2022, when the Tower of Mysteries was opened within its walls, transforming the historic fortress into a modern entertainment center.
It is a symbolic journey that reflects the transformation of the entire city of Gdańsk – from a trading stronghold, through the ruins of war, to a vibrant, modern city open to the world.
