At the taxi stand you hear about a fourth fare for traveling outside the administrative boundaries, and in the transport app the multiplier jumps because it has just started raining and three planes have landed at once.
For a short journey within the city, the difference will be a dozen or so złoty. For a route outside the city, it can even be several hundred złoty. Therefore, the way we calculate the cost of your airport transfer from the city to the airport at Rabbit-Trans Poland is based on a fixed rate known before your trip—excluding nighttime and holiday fares, and surcharges for delayed flights.
How do we calculate the cost of a transfer from the airport to outside the city and what does the price depend on?
In a traditional taxi, crossing a city's administrative boundary automatically switches the taximeter to a higher rate per kilometer—the so-called third or fourth tariff . This rate is intended to compensate the driver for returning empty to their zone, which we discuss in more detail in our guide on where taxi zones are in the Tricity area and how they affect taxi companies' pricing.
Why does a regular taxi fare outside the city increase twice as quickly? A taxi driver with a municipal license, after traveling outside Gdańsk , Sopot , or Gdynia, cannot legally pick up another passenger from a taxi rank in another municipality.
